Procedure to get Learners License

Procedure for Applying Learner’s Licence in India

Any person who wants to drive a motor vehicle has to first obtain the learner's license for the purpose of driving a motor vehicle. The person must report to the competence authority be tested before a permanent license is granted or not. The person must not be less than 20 years of age and if he wants to drive a transport vehicle.

He require following documents

Proofs of age, Documents accepted for proof of age are Birth/School Leaving or Certificate, Passport, etc.

Proof of residence (permanent), this can also be supported by some documents like the Original passport, Adhar card ration card, electoral roll, electricity bill etc.

Medical Certificate is also necessary, It is that required only in the case of transport vehicles and can be obtained from any registered medical practitioner in the prescribed form.

Photograph, 3 copies of passport size in necessary.

Fee, fee of Rs. 15 should be paid.

A learner's license Have a validity of six month only. If the driving test for a permanent license is not passed during time period, a fresh learner's license needs to be applied immediately.

Restrictions, A person who holds a learner's license is permitted to drive only if he is accompanied by a duly or licensed driver who is sitting in a position from where he can completely control the bike and bring it to a stop if necessary time. The vehicle must display like 'L' sticker, at both the mirrors of the vehicle.

A person holding a learner's license for a motorcycle is not permitted to carry any pillion-rider except the person who is required to be present for imparting instructions and ensuring the safety (as mentioned above).

Procedure to Obtain Permanent Driving License

A Permanent license of the appropriate class will be a granted one after the successful of completion of a driving test conducted by Competence authority. The test for Permanent driving license is conducted after a minimum time of 30 days from the date of issue of the learner's license. In case of failing the computer driving test, a retest can be taken by requesting but not before a period of 7 days.

Procedures for renewal of driving licence for the first time.

Application for renewal must contain following:

The driving license, Medical Certificate in case of transport vehicle, 3 copies of photograph , Renewal fee of Rs. 15. An Expired license is valid up to 30 days of time and can be renewed during this grace period of without a small amount of penalty.

Any license can be expired by more than period of 30 days can be renewed on payment of a penalty, provided the application is apparently made within a period of five years from the date of expiry. The penalty is charged like at Rs. 10/- per year or a part thereof. The License can be renewed through any of the areas RTO in the country, irrespective of the particular place of its issue. If a driver changes his residence area, the newly address should be incorporated in the guarded license.

In case the license number is not available for you, the application has to be made to any other RTA office, the procedure is the same as applicable for the fresh license (for other licence like learner license, driving licence test etc.).

Common Procedures Applying for International Driving License in India

International Driving Permit can be issued by the same RTO or other motoring associations like WIAA which are authorized by the government. Such kind of a license is valid for one year.
