How to Get Driving License?

Full Brazilian driving license can only be given to a foreigner who is legally resident in Brazil and who meets the Brazilian State Transport Department requirements. License must be applied for by the individual in person representing the individual.

The following documents will be needed:

With Original and copy of the Foreigner's identity card (Cedilla de IdentityParaEstranger - CIE which contains the Registry National De Estranger - RNE the identity number for non-nationals)

with Original and copy of the Individual Taxpayer’s Card Cadastral de Pessoa Fascia - CPF

With Copies and originals of proof of address from the previous three months utility bill bank statements

With Original temporary or full driving license

The above documents must be presented at theSector de (Service Area for Foreigners) of the local DETRAN office.

Now How to Obtain a Provisional Driver's License:

Begin with driving instruction an individual will need to apply for a provisional driving license. The provisional driving license can only be applied for at a driving school (autoes cola) directly or at a driving school through a disenchants it is only valid for driving lessons until the person passes the practical test and a holder of a provisional driving license cannot drive alone with it.

The documentsyou will be required when applying for a provisional driving license are as follows:

Proof of identity

Proof of address

Individual Taxpayer’s Card (Cadastral de Pessoa Fascia - CPF)

Issue of License Renewal

The CartierNational is valid for either five or ten years for each renewal the license holder must re-take the medical exams which include a blood pressure test eye-sight test and a hearing test.

If your Brazilian Driving Licenses is Lost or Stolen

Suppose if a CNH is lost or stolen a person must apply for a replacement card (Segundo via or 2ª Via).

Replacement this CNH can be arranged in person through a diamante at the DETRAN office closest to the applicant's residence or via the Internet.

With one recent color passport-size photo

With Copy of the declaration of loss notarized at a local registry office

With Proof of residence from the previous three months (bank statements or utility bills) as well as a photocopy of each

So, these documents will be taken to the sector 2a Via da CNH (Division 2) at the local DETRAN office where an application form will be available. Applicant will then need to pay a tax at the Bunco Moss Caxias (in São Paulo this is next to the DETRAN building). The Applicants should then return to the sector 2ª via da CNH with proof of payment to collect their new card.
