Children act on the impulse and if this happens while walking riding bicycles or playing near traffic there is a risk of injury or even death. When children are vulnerable on their own with the help of their parents they can learn about safety on the roads and how to avoid dangerous situations from an early age.
Children have difficulty in judging the speed and distance seeing objects in side vision and identifying direction of speed as well as estimating speed.
Sometimes Road crashes are one of the major causes of death for young children. In the ages of 0 to 15 years around 20 children are killed and 400 seriously injured in road crashes in Victoria each year.
