YOUR ROLE AS A DRIVER in learning to operate a vehicle the size of a school bus is a difficult task involving knowledge of laws regulations visual and mechanical skills judgments decisions and accurate responses. Your performance as a school bus operator is dependent on your developing skills acquiring necessary knowledge and maintaining a positive attitude. Or do you still greet the students with a smile? It’s your mood not only affects your driving but also around you. Always keep a positive attitude. You must always be mentally prepared to make allowances for the poor attitude and driving of other motorists and should not allow the actions of other motorists to cause you to react emotionally and involve you in a crash. School education drivers must be mentally alert at all times. They must always keep their concentration on what they are doing.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITES AS A DRIVER As a professional driver you are been expected to meet high standards of conduct. A school bus driver is expected more than a professional driver and he is expected to meet standards of conduct higher than those of other professional drivers. Every time conduct yourself in such a way that your actions on and off duty will not be open to any criticism. You are a role model for the students and a representative of the school district and your related employer. Student passengers and their parents make a great deal of confidence in you. You should act that you are deserving of this confidence, and including being:

1) A dependable person who can be relied upon to carry out all of your duties

2) Emotionally stable to your work effectively and patiently with students and parents and to all your school officials, and the public customers

3) Its completely mature enough to cope with unexpected and unusual situations 4) Interested in the welfare and as well as needs of others

5) Willing to practice patience and understanding

6) Observant of all the traffic laws Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Penn DOT regulations and the local rules regulations and policies which includes conducting a minimum of two emergency evacuation drills on your bus every school year

7) Neat and clean as the unique symbol of the entire driving school system

8) Careful to refrain from using any kind of profanity

9)Well rested so you are free from fatigue and free from all the effects of alcohol and drugs including prescription and over the counter medications.

You’re Driving Technique: Suppose when you transport a bus load of children to school every day in a wide variety of highway and any unsuitable weather conditions you are charged with a serious responsibility.
