How to Get Driving License?
People those wishing to drive must apply for a Myanmar license at the Department for Road Transport and Administration in Yangon as an International Driving License isn't accepted.
The Applications required are: -
A valid driver’s license three small (1”x1”) photographs a photocopy of your passport you will not have to take a written or road test. With this you can expect to receive a Myanmar driver’s license within a week or two.
Myanmar traffic drives on the right. As there has been some modernization of Myanmar’s once antiquated vehicles the roads are poorly maintained and can become impassable in the rainy season from May to October. So generally road travel to tourist destinations is safe although some roads may be rough. The Highways are often 2-lane and cars often pass one another recklessly.
1. Your original license
2. certified copy of the license
3. copy of passport and visa
4. letter from you
5. letter from your sponsor (usually employer)
6. 20000 MKK service fee
7. 50 FEC for 5 year license
8. 2 passport (or smaller ask in a photo shop for right size) photos of you with blue background 9. Get someone to go to licensing office on your behalf unless you speak Myanmar well in Yangon to process it (your office staff will know where it is).
Next you get a yellow bit of paper once in progress and license back in a couple of weeks sometimes easier if you are going to do it in Naypyitaw but not essential
