How to Get Driving License?

If anyone driving any type of motor vehicle on the roads in Germany must have a valid driving license. The license must be carried on all journeys and must be presented to an official on demand.

The License holders may only drive the category of vehicle for which their license is valid.

German Driver's Licenses

Foreigners in Germany must exchange their license for a German one some may make the exchange if they wish while yet others may not exchange their license and will need to take a full driving test (theory and practical) in order to get a German driving license. The License holders may only drive the category of vehicle for which their license is valid.

Be with:

With an official translation of your foreign driving permit

With an application form for a German driving license

With a passport or ID card (and two extra photos)

With your German residence permit

With a statement from your driving instructor that you have passed the written exam and/or the road test (if either test is required)

With proof that you have taken a first-aid class recently

With proof that you have passed a medical vision test.
